registrationThe Board of Trustees for Lone Star College System has called a Trustee and Bond Election for Saturday, May 10, 2008. Early voting is April 28-May 6, 2008. All registered voters living within the LSCS district are eligible to vote. This includes all territory within the boundaries of the following independent school districts: Aldine, Conroe, Cy-Fair, Humble, Klein, Magnolia, New Caney, Spring, Splendora, Tomball and Willis. Visual Commomunications and Interior Design

Welcome to the "Kingwood Kabaret!"
The LSC-Kingwood Drama Department is excited to announce a new event marking the conclusion of the 2007-08 season. Enjoy an evening of stories and classic jazz standards, modern Broadway melodies, riveting monologues, sweet desserts, and great company as we create a "nightclub setting" complete with cafe tables and singing waiters. Some of the best vocal and acting talent in Northeast Houston will be featured. Performance dates are May 30 and 31 at 7:30 p.m. in the SFA Performing Arts Theatre. Ticket prices are $15 and include dessert and beverages. Seating is limited so make your reservation early by calling 281.312.1532.

Interested in professional development, workforce training or leisure learning? Registration for LSC-Kingwood Continuing Education is ongoing with a variety of courses beginning weekly. Start by registering for Intro to Digital Photography beginning May 10 or Computer Fundamentals on May 13.  

More than 600 courses are offered on campus, online and through the Academy of Lifelong Learning (ALL). Courses cover everything from business and aerobics to digital camera basics and web design.

Visual Communication graduating seniors at LSC-Kingwood have worked long and hard preparing their portfolios and on Wednesday, May 7 in the ADM Building from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. their hard work will be on display.

The show is designed to give students experience in promoting themselves and their work in a real-world setting. Each of the student portfolios will feature at least 10 examples of their work.

The Visual Communication program trains digital designers in the communication media of the future. Students are prepared for careers in commercial art and design, desktop publishing, multimedia development, web design, 3-D animation, video and post production.

Music lovers should mark their calendars for two upcoming concerts at Lone Star College-Kingwood. The Kingwood Community Symphonic Band and Kingwood Jazz Ensemble will perform on Thursday, May 1 and the Kingwood Big Band will perform on Friday, May 2.

Both concerts will be held in the SFA Performing Arts Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free for the Kingwood Community Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble performance. General admission is $15 for the Kingwood Big Band, with discounts for seniors ($10) and students ($5).

Are you looking for something fun for your child to do this summer? Discovery College, LSC-Kingwood's summer youth program, provides innovative and educational programs for youth ages 6 to 14.

More than 75 different one-week courses will be offered beginning June 9 through August 8 in academic prep, art and creativity, fitness, communication, engineering, science and technology.

Participants have the opportunity to enhance existing talents or develop new ones in classes that encourage hands-on participation taught by knowledgeable, certified instructors.

Register today in person, by mail or fax. A complete listing of classes can be found online. Only paid registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
