) This course is designed for the student that requires a review of Algebraic
material or for the student that is capable of independent learning. Students
that struggle with the concepts of math and are not willing to spend the
required time to work many problems to learn the required material are strongly
discouraged from signing up for this class. Students who were previously
unsuccessful in a distance learning Kingwood math class will not be accepted.
Competent computer skills including Internet navigation skills are necessary.
There will be no computer instruction provided for this class. Students are
encouraged to obtain the book as soon as they are accepted into class and must
obtain their book prior to the first day of class. Students are encouraged to
log on to eCollege Vista as soon as possible and must log on to eCollege Vista by the first day of
class. All students must register prior to the first day of class. No late
registration will be allowed.
Online submission of assignments, sometimes referred to as modules, will be
required. Most assignments may be attempted twice to enhance learning by
correcting mistakes. This course is an independent study course and requires
work to be submitted in a timely manner. No allowances or excuses are accepted
for falling behind. Getting ahead is acceptable. Falling behind is not
acceptable. Since the assignments are to be submitted online via eCollege Vista they will
be available several days after the due date. This period that the assignments
are available after the due date will be a grace period. The grace period is a
safety net in the event there is a computer or system problem on the day that
the assignment is due or in the case of illness or other emergency. All
assignments, including exams must be satisfactorily completed in a timely manner
and will not be accepted after the grace period. Assignments not completed with
a score greater than 50% are considered missed assignments. Students
accumulating 5 missed assignments will be dropped from the course. The grace
period should not be abused or thought of as the "due date". In the event of an
extended illness or emergency, it is in the best interest of a student to
withdraw from all classes and start again when they are ready to continue their
