If at the end of two years, you aren’t sure you’re going to pass the exit exams, you might be someone who can say this about themselves:

1.        I rarely make A’s--- even in my respiratory care courses.

2.        I rarely make B’s--- even in my respiratory care courses

3.        My average grade in comprehensive final exams in clinical is usually less than 60%

4.        My average grade in comprehensive final exams in clinical is usually less than 50%

5.        My respiratory GPA is less than 3.5.

6.        My respiratory GPA is less than 3.0

7.        My respiratory GPA is less than 2.5

8.        A “C” is as good as a “B.”

9.        All I’ve ever cared about is passing. Half this stuff, I’ll never use.

10.     I resent the fact that passing in RC classes requires a 75%. What’s wrong with a 70%?

11.     I resent the fact that I could be dropped from RC courses for less than 75%. “Ds” are acceptable in a lot of courses; why not RC?

12.     I’ve failed more than two exams in each of my RC classes—every semester

13.     I like to take short answer tests when I can be vague about the answer

14.     If the instructor makes the notes available to me, I don’t even buy the textbook.

15.     I rarely check the textbook for inaccuracies/questionable statements in lecture

16.     If the instructor didn’t say it; it must not exist.

17.     I’ve never picked up the textbook to read ahead of time.

18.     I put in less than 1 hour of study a day—unless there is an exam.

19.     I cram the night before for all tests.

20.     It is easier to do homework in a group where I can get the answers easily

21.     Homework is a waste of time.

22.     Papers are a waste of time.

23.     I see nothing wrong with copying homework answers; it’s not like they grade these things

24.     I find lab write ups to be a waste of time

25.     I hate daily quizzes; I’m never ready. I fail them miserably

26.     I really hate surprise quizzes

27.     Seeing someone else cheating on a test never makes me angry or sad.

28.     After an exam, I frequently try to get the instructor to curve the grade

29.     After an exam, I frequently try to get the instructor to change an answer not because I found a reference, but because it ‘could be interpreted differently’.

30.     I always answer essay questions word for word the way the instructor taught me

31.     I always try to delay a deadline—just on principle

32.     I frequently forget to turn in homework

33.     I turn in late homework all the time

34.     I turn in papers late all the time

35.     I hate it when the instructor refuses to accept late homework/paper

36.     I’ve attempted to talk an instructor into delaying a paper deadline

37.     I don’t care if the references to my paper are peer reviewed or not.

38.     I prefer to get my references from the internet—I can just cut and paste

39.     I leave the class too often or am tardy or leave class early way too much. In fact, I’m surprised I get away with it.

40.     I doodle, nap or work on other homework during lectures

41.     I’ve never been in the instructor’s office asking about respiratory care—only to socialize or to check my average
